How to find wifi password on android without root
Unlock the Wireless Connectivity Secrets with Android
Sure, we’ve all experienced forgetting a Wi-Fi password every now and then. But imagine never having to ask for it again, discovering a way to find it on your own android device, without having the hassle to root it! Intriguing, isn’t it?
Although android doesn’t provide a direct way to view saved Wi-Fi passwords, several methods work efficiently to find Wi-Fi password on android without root.
Method One: Using a Connected Laptop or PC
Saved Wi-Fi passwords are accessible on a laptop or a desktop connected to the same network as your android device.
Locate the wireless icon in the taskbar, right-click on it, and choose ‘Open Network and Internet Settings’. Under ‘Change your network settings’, select ‘Change adapter options’. Double click on the Wi-Fi network you’re connected to and move to the ‘Security’ section. Here, tick ‘Show characters’ checkbox to reveal your Wi-Fi password.
Please note: This method is only applicable if you have a laptop or PC connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your android device.
Method Two: Via File Browsers Applications
File browsers with superuser capabilities such as ES File Explorer and Solid Explorer can help you find your Wi-Fi password. Start with downloading and opening the application. Go to your root or system folder where you will find ’data/misc/wifi’.
Select ‘wpa_supplicant.conf’ file, which contains your Wi-Fi passwords. Usually, the password is located next to the phrase ‘psk’. This method, while could compromise data security, is useful when no other option is available.
Remember: While this is an effective method, it requires confidence with tech-speak and directories.
Method Three: Using QR Codes
This method is ideal if you’re trying to share your Wi-Fi password with others without revealing it outright. Open ‘Settings’ and then ‘Network & Internet.’ Choose ‘Wi-Fi’ and click on the name of the network. A QR code would appear, containing the Wi-Fi password. This method requires a QR code scanner to read and display the password.
With the advent and likelihood of QR deployment at a CAGR of 8.7% from 2021 to 2028, this can become a preferred method for its ease and simplicity.
Method Four: Via Router Settings
If your android device is connected to the router, you can access Wi-Fi passwords through router settings—Open any web browser and type the router’s IP address. When prompted, enter the router’s username and password (if you’ve never changed it, the default username and password are usually ‘admin’). Look for a tab that says ‘Wireless’ or ‘Wireless Settings’. Here you can find the Wi-Fi password.
These methods highlight the fact that, with a little know-how, it’s possible to access forgotten Wi-Fi passwords. And remember, with great power comes great responsibility—stay respectful of others’ privacy!
