How to share your smartphone screen on the Discord app?
In the previous sections, we saw how we can share the screen on Windows and Mac. But here we are going to see how to share screens on our smartphones with a few simple steps. Keep in mind that you need to have the Discord app on your phone since the browser does not allow us to share the screen. Follow the steps mentioned below to share your screen:
Sharing your screen in a private call:
- Open the Discord app on your iPhone or Android device and start a call with any of your friends. You must start the call with a single person to start the screen sharing.
- Once the call starts and you are connected with friend/friends, tap on the “Screen share” button. The button should be located beside the video call and the mute button at the bottom of the screen.
- After you tap on the Share button, your entire screen will be shared. Unlike the Windows and Mac versions of the app, you do not get options to adjust the settings.
- If the Discord asks you for permission to share your screen, allow it by tapping on “Accept”. On Android, you will be asked every time you want to share your screen. This avoids accidentally sharing your screen on the call.
Sharing your screen on a voice server:
- Open the Discord app on your iPhone or Android device and join any voice channel on the server of your choice.
- Once you join the voice server, you should see your screen appearing at the bottom of your screen.
- The panel should contain all the options for sharing the screen and along with a disconnect button.
- Tap on the Screen share (phone icon with arrow) button and accept the system warning.
- If the Discord asks you for permission to share your screen, allow it by tapping on “Accept”. On Android, you will be asked every time you want to share your screen. This avoids accidentally sharing your screen on the call.
- Once you are all set and done, your screen will be visible to everyone on the call.
Audio not coming in the screen-share!
This problem can occur on any device and the cause is something you would’s guess easily. The issue of no audio when you are playing a game or using an app is the full-screen mode. Whenever you change the mode to “full-screen mode”, the sound stops going to the Discord. This makes your streams or videos without audio from the game or audio, sometimes all of the audio can cut off.
The simple and easy solution would be to just play the game in the “windowless” or “minimized” mode. Since the developers can find a way to fix this issue, but until then this is the best solution.
NOTE: If you want to play the game in full screen then go to the game’s settings and change the display to “Windowless” mode. Once you change the display settings, go to graphics settings and change the resolution to that of your monitor. Once you apply these settings, your monitor would be covered by the game and you will get the full-screen experience.
Some fixes for the problem
There are some fixes that you can try to fix the no-audio problem without compromising on the full-screen experience.
- If you are using the Discord web, then you should check if the browser is compatible with the Discord.
- Check if the Discord app is up to date since older versions can run into such problems.
- Check the stability of your internet connection, remember a high-speed connection does not mean it’s stable. If you are using a 5GHz (5G) WiFi connection, then you should change it to 2.6 GHz.
- If you are using the web version, make sure the browser has permission to use your mic and audio. We would recommend you shift to the app (Windows or Mac) version.
- Check your mic and other audio equipment with other apps to check if they are working properly.
- If none of these are working for you then you can try to restart your system and not keep the game or app in the full-screen mode.
